Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts celebrated from
the last week of April to the first week of May, in
2002, the Binatbatan Festival was introduced to celebrate one of the industries
that kept residents alive – Abel Iloco hand-loom weaving. Binatbatan is the
process of beating cotton pods to remove the seeds. This is shown
through the Binatbatan street dancing and showdown.
It's a festival in which various schools
from Vigan wherein they perform street dancing while wearing colorful and
beautiful woven fabric found in the Ilocos Region, or commonly known as Abel Iloko.
With this Celebration, people in Vigan are likely
to join in these celebrations to show the people they’re talent and in this
celebration, the culture of the people of Vigan are surely preserved if these
celebrations keep getting celebrated every year.
As
the celebration is ongoing, the mayor and the people of Vigan are inviting Filipinos
and foreign visitors to experience the Celebration of the binatbatan Festival
